Little Egret
The Little Egret is now considered resident to Stanpit Marsh, but some also migrate to the Marsh from central Africa and the Mediterranean.

Dogs on leads are welcome on Stanpit Marsh
Please keep dogs on leads when visiting Stanpit Marsh, as they can disturb nesting birds or the ponies – particularly when the mares have young foals.
Great Willowherb
Great Willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum) flowers in July and August and can grow as tall as 1.8 metres.
Shelduck
Another bird seen year-round on Stanpit Marsh, The Shelduck often nests in old rabbit burrows.

The Visitor Centre has numerous informative and interactive displays as well as activities for children.

Teasel
Teasel (Dipsacus fullonum) grow up to 2 metres tall and flower in July and August.

Charlie in the Visitor Centre
Charlie is a local cat often seen around Stanpit Marsh. Today he was enjoying the sunshine and company in the Visitor Centre.
Stanpit Marsh from the Water
Viewing Stanpit Marsh from the water gives a very different perspective. PLEASE NOTE that you may not land watercraft on the Marsh!
